The linear stability of the axisymmetric steady thermocapillary flow in a liquid bridge made from 2 cSt silicone oil (Prandtl number 28) is investigated numerically framework Boussinesq approximation. and temperature fields surrounding gas phase (air) are taken into account for generic cylindrical container hosting bridge. flows fully coupled across hydrostatically deformed liquid–gas interface, neglecting dynamic interface deformations. Originating common reference case, boundary computed varying length (aspect ratio), its volume gravity level, providing accurate critical data. qualitative dependence threshold on these parameters explained terms characteristics mode. heat exchange between ambient that resolved has an important influence conditions.
